ABOUT US

Founded in 1896 when a small group of believers gathered at a syrup mill on land owned by Sam P. Smith, forming what would become a lasting testimony of faith in Nacogdoches, Texas. Under the leadership of Rev. W. F. Carnes, the church was built on the dedication of pioneer families who committed their lives to Christ and laid a strong spiritual foundation for generations to come.

From its earliest days meeting in simple frame structures and a “tabernacle,” New Hope has continually grown through God’s blessing and the faithful service of its people. In 1946, the first brick sanctuary was built, followed by a parsonage, and in 1968, a larger church facility to support a growing congregation and expanding ministry. Over time, additional buildings and renovations, a fellowship hall and classrooms, have allowed the church to meet the needs of its community while remaining rooted in its mission.

Throughout its history, New Hope has been a place where people gather to worship, grow, and serve together. It has also been an active witness for Christ; raising up pastors, missionaries, teachers, and leaders who have served both locally and beyond.

With a rich heritage grounded in faith, hard work, and a commitment to God’s Word, New Hope continues to look forward with hope. Our desire is to see lives transformed by the love of Christ and to walk alongside one another in every season of life, trusting God to continue writing the story He began here over a century ago.
